On the Arithmetic of Krull Monoids with Infinite Cyclic Class Group
Let H be a Krull monoid with infinite cyclic class group G and let GP ⊂ G denote the set of classes containing prime divisors. We study under which conditions on GP some of the main finiteness properties of factorization theory—such as local tameness, the finiteness and rationality of the elasticity, the structure theorem for sets of lengths, the finiteness of the catenary degree, and the exist...
متن کاملNon-commutative Krull Monoids: a Divisor Theoretic Approach and Their Arithmetic
A (not necessarily commutative) Krull monoid—as introduced by Wauters—is defined as a completely integrally closed monoid satisfying the ascending chain condition on divisorial two-sided ideals. We study the structure of these Krull monoids, both with ideal theoretic and with divisor theoretic methods. Among others we characterize normalizing Krull monoids by divisor theories. Based on these re...
متن کاملON FACTORIZATION IN BLOCK MONOIDS FORMED BY {1, a} IN Zn
We consider the factorization properties of block monoids on Zn determined by subsets of the form Sa = {1, a}. We denote such a block monoid by Ba(n). In Section 2, we provide a method based on the division algorithm for determining the irreducible elements of Ba(n). Section 3 offers a method to determine the elasticity of Ba(n) based solely on the cross number. Section 4 applies the results of...
متن کاملAccepted Elasticity in Local Arithmetic Congruence Monoids
For certain a, b ∈ N, the Arithmetic Congruence Monoid M(a, b) is a multiplicatively closed subset of N given by {x ∈ N : x ≡ a (mod b)}∪{1}. An irreducible in this monoid is any element that cannot be factored into two elements, each greater than 1. Each monoid element (apart from 1) may be factored into irreducibles in at least one way. The elasticity of a monoid element (apart from 1) is the...
متن کاملA Theorem on Accepted Elasticity in Local Arithmetical Congruence Monoids
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a certain class of local arithmetical congruence monoids (or ACMs) to have accepted elasticity. Let a and b be positive integers with a ≤ b and a ≡ a (mod b). Under these conditions, the arithmetic sequence a, a+ b, a+ 2b, a+ 3b, . . . is closed under multiplication and is a multiplicative semigroup. Setting M(a, b) = {a+ kb | k ∈ N0} ∪ {1} produc...
